Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks
As training camps open around the league, it’s time to take an early look at the top 10 QBs in the league.
1. Aaron Rodgers
Is this even a question? He’s easily the best question in the NFL. He can dissect defenses with his arm, keep plays alive with his legs and beat you at the line of scrimmage with his brain.
2. Tom Brady
Even with a four game suspension, Brady is very clearly still a top 2 QB in the league. He’ll come back and torch the league just like he always does, and it may be a bit of a revenge tour a la 18-1 post “SpyGate.” At 39 (on August 3rd), Brady is still in great shape, and was always a pocket guy who beats you with his brain more than his legs.
3. Cam Newton
The guy is the reigning NFL MVP. He is coming off a great season, and this year he will actually have a wide receiver or two to help him out with Kelvin Benjamin coming back from an injury.
4. Ben Roethlisberger
Year in and year out, Big Ben is there leading the Steelers (usually to a playoff spot). Entering his 13th season, Ben is showing no signs of slowing down. He has matched well with offensive coordinator Todd Haley and has put up his two best completion percentages in the past two years.
5. Drew Brees
There has been some concern over whether or not Brees is “done” or if he has enough left in the tank at age 37. Yet last year he threw for nearly 4,900 yards, completed more than 68% of his passes and threw for 32 touchdowns. He may not be around too much longer than this year, but this year, he’s still a top QB in the league.
6. Russell Wilson
Entering year five, Wilson is coming off his best year as a passer. Last year he set career highs in completion percentage, yards and touchdowns. He is proven that he can win the big game and make the big throw. His legs are still a legit weapon and he has used them better since running for 850 yards two years ago.
7. Carson Palmer
Palmer has had a career renaissance with Cardinals Head Coach Bruce Arians. It shouldn’t change this year.
8. Andrew Luck
He’s been surrounded by a terrible line, and at times suspect weapons, but the guy is supremely talented. Played in just 7 games last year, look for a bounce back year this year.
9. Eli Manning
Eli is coming off the best year of his career. He’s got better receivers around him this year and should have another great year in year 3 of the Ben McAdoo offense.
10. Philip Rivers
Rivers falls into a similar group as Eli, except that he has never won anything in his career, and because of that is likely thought of as a lesser QB.
